This is the track "formerly known as Capitol Speedway," which Nancy and Wes Wallace established in the 1970s. For the 2023 season, we saw a name change to Thunder Valley Speedway, with the new stewardship of the facility and ownership by the Hutchings Family. Discover the Thunder Valley Speedway, a unique blend of tradition and innovation. As one of Alaska's most well-established race track facilities, it’s undergoing a complete update to offer a modernized and inventive racing experience unlike anything Alaska has seen. They're introducing a larger dirt track with wider lanes and higher banks for faster and more competitive racing. Plus, a dirt oval go-kart track that's perfect for kids and adults to compete in various Valley Speedway classes with their karts. The new facility will also have a stadium-sized dirt bike/SXS race track! There will also be an “arrive and drive” go-kart track to give the public a place to show up and race our karts on their own oval dirt track! Right next to the go-kart track will be the Mini Thunder Speedway, where young kids can enjoy and compete on the mini-course with hills and turns on our Power Wheels race trucks! The Thunder Bar and Grill will replay the day's races on several flat-screen TVs throughout the indoor and outdoor areas. It has outdoor pool tables, foosball, corn hole, and great food and drinks.
